Department Profile

The large amount of biological information generated through a vast pool of scientists, R&D in reputed companies and universities globally needs to be retrieved, managed and interpreted. Bioinformatics provides the required computational strategies, biomolecular analysis methodologies (insilico) and effective management of these biological data.

M.Sc. Bioinformatics programme at Union Christian College began in 2005 under the Department of Botany to expertise students in a new branch of Interdisciplinary Science which amalgamates biology with computer science catering to the needs of research institutions worldwide.

The Department provides an innovative approach to its students with an encouraging and intense learning environment. The course aims to bring out meritorious and dedicated experts in Bioinformatics by training them Core Biology in tandem with Computer Sciences and allied subjects.

The Department equips students with advanced computational tools and bioinformatics softwares by inviting industrial experts from reputed institutions. SATYAM INFORMATICS Secunderabad, ALCOVE technologies Hyderabad, CEDULA BIOSOLUTIONS Hyderabad, BIOMINDS Chennai are associated with us. The Department conducts interactive sessions and symposiums throughout the year motivating students to pursue a career in LifeScience Research. Technically brilliant students are placed in IT, ITES sectors whereas academically proficient opt for a career in research.
